The sunlight 

Life gives us the mysteries that we’re not sure how to answer

It shows us glimpses of hope like a teasing romancer

Through the dark clouds and rain comes shimmers of light 

I roll my eyes at the sky out of slight pettiness or spite

But the light shines brighter more confident through time 

As if it’s trying to get my attention through views of something sublime

As time passes on and I feel the warmth of the sun 

The clouds drift away like life’s only really just begun

My heart lightens in weight my head tilts towards the sky 

A smile on my face that feels real just this time

I let the warmth of the rays bounce off my skin 

It slowly takes over me like purification from within

My eyes struggle in the brightness as I reach up my hand

And something takes ahold of it like a gentle command

I accept it and let it pull me up without hesitation 

I dance on the clouds to the sound of a standing ovation 

In this moment I feel happy and my heart feels appreciated 

This feeling is something I never truly anticipated 

And for once I feel like everything will go right

As long as I don’t forget

To dance in the sunlight
